Fire At Historic Coney Island Texas Restaurant

FIRE AT HISTORIC CONEY ISLAND TEXAS RESTAURANT
Scranton, PA---Fire broke out on Thursday Evening at the historic Coney Island Restaurant in the 500 Block of Lackawanna Avenue in Scranton. The restaurant in under going restoration as part of the rebirth of the 500 Block of Lackawanna Avenue Project. Foot note: The City of Scranton and Coney Island Texas Lunch were served with an injunction Tuesday, preventing any further demolition of the building. Coney Island is a historic landmark in the City of Scranton.

Senator Baker Honored

(Clarks Summit, PA): The Margery Scranton Council of Republican Women of
Lackawanna County recently held their 8th Annual Women’s History Month
Celebration at the Ramada Inn, Clarks Summit honoring State Senator Lisa Baker
(R-Luzerne).

Senator Baker was elected in 2006 to represent the 20th Senatorial District of

“During the month of March each year, the Margery Scranton Council of Republican Women selects an outstanding republican women who represent outstanding achievement in the community, said Rose Ann Gaetano, long serving member. They honor the selected candidate’s achievement as part of Women’s History Month.

The committee consisted of Barbara Davenport, chairman; Kelly Ann Walsh, co-chairman; Joann Kulick, co-chairman, Karen Lilik, president; Rose Ann Gaetano, committee; Erica Bruckner, Rosemary Napolitano, Lynn Kokina, Sharon Tucker, and Dalida O’Malley, committee members.

Past honorees were Renee Amore, Dr. Linda Barrasse, State Representative Sandra Major, Mary Dippre, Toni Gilhooley, Linda Keene, Fran DeWitt and Judge Trish Corbett
